Format and Venues

Our two separate 4 day permaculture design course immersions, 8 weeks apart, will enable you to learn, broaden and deepen your understanding and application of permaculture. Between each residential course, you will receive a weekly follow up resource to support you in a personal design project which you will present at the second residential course.

You’ll need an average of around 1-2 hours per week to complete your personal design project between the 2 residential weekends. This allows us to cover the PDC curriculum, with a minimum of 72 hours learning required by the Permaculture Association to achieve your certificate. This project is unique to our PDC.

See our Design Course page for further details.

Permaculture 1:
19 – 22 February 2027

Denmark Farm Conservation Centre near Lampeter, west Wales.
https://www.denmarkfarm.org.uk/
We start our design journey at an amazing restoration project where Angie worked for 15 years. Its original aim was to see if the process of land degradation could be reversed without major inputs or capital in a farming context. Within 10 years the site was described as a ‘notable nature reserve’ created from ‘a very barren place’.
Through all of this there has always been a profound respect for wildlife and an awareness that humans are part of our natural world and interdependent with it.
Striving for real health – physical, mental and spiritual – still underpins Denmark Farm today. The site also has sustainably designed timber buildings (such as the ecolodge, pictured), short courses, forest school, campsite, volunteer groups and an eco-shop.

During this residential we cover all the core elements of the permaculture design process, from ethics & principles to designing in cycles and using zones & sectors to guide us. We will move from landscape scale to more intimate, personal settings as we also look at community & societal aspects of permaculture. And we will see some
of this in action when we visit Angie’s permaculture home and smallholding nearby.

Permaculture 2
16 – 19 April 2027

Henbant Permaculture Farm, near Caernarfon, north Wales.
https://www.henbant.org/

Our next permaculture design course immersion is at an incredible agri-wilding farm & market garden nestled on the edge of Eryri (Snowdonia), with self-built learning spaces & eco ‘tiny homes’ (our accommodation for 3 nights), campsite, wood-fired
sauna & community shop.

“Henbant Permaculture is a vibrant centre of permaculture practice, agri-wilding, innovation and training between the mountains and the sea. It is a diverse and dynamic project that now comprises a highly productive market garden, an extensive
livestock silvo-pastural system with cows, chickens and pigs, woodlands, campsite, charming eco-glamping cabins and training facilities. It is a fantastic place to see permaculture in action. Both a home and a farm, Henbant is an abundant, thriving
ecosystem that produces real food whilst also building biodiversity, soil, income, resilience, and community, proving that a more beautiful world is possible.”

During this residential we dive deeper into applied permaculture design and commonly used techniques. We will also expand on the community & societal aspects of permaculture – you don’t need to have access to your own land to practice
permaculture!

As well as experiencing the magic of Henbant, we’ll visit Alice’s ever diversifying farm, Tyddyn Teg – an agroecological, community-owned vegetable farm operated by a workers’ co-op. Tyddyn Teg is an exciting example of social permaculture in action, with its radical non-hierarchical governance structure and community ownership model; as well as being an abundant producer of food at community scale (they feed upwards of 1000 people via their veg box scheme and onsite farm shop), and a haven for biodiversity:
